After all, treatment of one’s addiction is only half the battle—the rest is a lifelong commitment to sobriety. Circumstances at home must be conducive to a life of recovery to give our residents the very best chance of long-term success.
Family dynamics sometimes contribute to addiction and should be addressed as part of a resident’s treatment to avoid future challenges.
Additionally, some family members may be resentful toward a loved one who they feel has hurt them with their addiction—feelings that are completely normal and expected. We provide support to family members in a caring, judgment-free environment that helps to process, honor, and validate these high emotions associated with confronting the past, so they can heal and move forward productively.
On a designated weekend each month, the Orchard invites all residents’ family members to join us for with educational workshops and breakout sessions in coach smaller groups. There are also opportunities for family members to meet with the Orchard staff to ask questions, discuss an issue, or engage in sessions.
Family members are welcome to take a campus tour and dine with us at The Farmhouse all weekend.
Each week, small groups of family members of current and former residents can participate in a virtual call led by clinical staff. This is another opportunity for family members to share experiences, ask questions, or confer about various issues in a more intimate and private setting.
As needed, our clinical staff can also facilitate weekly one-on-one update calls with individual families to discuss their resident’s progress.
We understand how important it is for families to feel connected, informed, and supported—especially during a loved one’s time in treatment. Our team is committed to providing timely and compassionate communication, always with care and sensitivity to your unique needs. Whether through weekly support groups, scheduled calls, or email updates, we are here to walk alongside you. Family counseling sessions are arranged when the timing is right for healing and progress. And if something urgent arises, please know we are just a phone call away—ready to listen and help.
In some cases, Orchard residents and their family members require more extensive care together as a family unit. We work to identify these cases and incorporate family therapy into the individualized treatment plan—throughout a resident’s time at the Orchard and over the long term at Orchard Uptown, our outpatient therapeutic center.
Examples of such cases may involve:
This gives us an opportunity to deliver deeper care to families who need it in a less time-limited way to maximize the benefits of treatment.
At Orchard Uptown, we also offer a series of in-person and virtual educational workshops and seminars for the general public that focus on addiction and its impact on families.
